The short answer
| Option | Published price (Nov 2, 2026) | What you still do |
|---|---|---|
| DIY AI clipping or editing tool | Free plans exist. Paid plans about $15–$35 a month | Pick, fix captions, reframe, export, post |
| Marketplace freelancer (Fiverr, Upwork) | Fiverr podcast-clip gigs from about $5–$25. Upwork video editors typically $6–$25 an hour | Brief, review, manage revisions |
| Monthly clipping service | $195–$3,000 a month across the plans we checked, or roughly $14–$50 per clip | Approve clips |
| Rhinehart Studio Clip Studio | $199 for 10 clips, or $599 a month for 30 (about $20 per clip) | Post the clips yourself |
Freelancers: Fiverr and Upwork
Upwork’s own video editor cost page says video editors there typically cost $6–$25 an hour. It gives medians of $10 an hour for entry level (below $30), $40 for mid tier ($31–$60) and $100 for senior editors ($61–$150). That data is worldwide, so US-based editors often sit at the higher end. Upwork notes that both hourly and fixed-price contracts are common.
Fiverr blocked our direct check of its pages, so we can only report what its podcast clips search page shows in search results: gigs listed “From $5”, “From $15” and “From $25”. One indexed gig offered four 45-second clips with subtitles for $10. Starting prices are for the smallest package. Check what’s included: the number of clips, captions, who picks the moments and how many revisions.
Ask any freelancer for a price per finished clip. An hourly rate means little until you know how long it takes to find and polish each moment.
Monthly clipping services
Done-for-you services sell a set number of clips a month. Published examples on November 2, 2026:
- Editvideo.io short-form plans: 10 videos a month listed at $295 (shown at a $195 sale price on the day we checked), 25 at $495 ($395) and 50 at $795 ($695).
- PromptPlay: $1,000 a month for 20 clips, $2,000 for 50 and $3,000 for 90, month to month.
That is roughly $14 to $50 per clip, depending on volume and what’s included. Pricier services often add posting, strategy or reporting. Full-service agencies that also edit the full episode or run your accounts usually cost more and quote case by case.
DIY tools: subscriptions
| Tool | Published price (Nov 2, 2026) | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| OpusClip | Free; Starter $15/month; Pro $29/month, or $14.50/month billed yearly (pricing, OpusClip blog) | 1 credit per minute of source video. Starter includes 150 credits a month and Pro 300 (OpusClip Help). The free plan adds a watermark |
| Descript | Free; Hobbyist $24/month ($16 billed yearly); Creator $35/month ($24 yearly); Business $65/month ($50 yearly) (pricing) | Text-based editor with a Create Clips tool. The free plan has 60 media minutes a month and exports at 720p |
| CapCut | Free; Pro listed from $19.99 (pricing) | CapCut says displayed prices are for reference only. Your final price, taxes and offers show after you sign in |
The subscription is the cheap part. The real cost is your time: reviewing AI picks, fixing caption errors on names and jargon, reframing two-person shots and exporting every clip.
What drives the price
- Who picks the moments: your timestamps or the editor’s judgment.
- Volume: per-clip prices usually fall as monthly volume rises, but you pay every month.
- Episode length, guests and cameras: long multi-camera shows take longer.
- Caption style: checked word-by-word captions in your brand style take longer than raw auto-captions.
- Extras: hook titles, covers, B-roll, motion graphics, thumbnails and post copy.
- Posting and reporting: account management is a separate, pricier service.
- Turnaround and revisions: rush jobs and unlimited revisions cost more.
What to ask before you pay
- What is the price per finished clip, including any platform fees or sales tax?
- Who picks the moments, and does a person check every caption?
- How many revisions are included, and how fast is delivery?
- Who owns the edited files, and can I use them in paid ads?
- Is it a one-off price, or a subscription that renews automatically? How do I cancel?
- What happens to my footage and my guests’ data afterwards?
- Will you add an on-screen disclosure when a clip includes a sponsor read?
US notes: sponsors, endorsements and rights
FTC disclosure. If a clip promotes a product and you have a material connection to the brand (a paid sponsor read, an affiliate link, free products or a family or business tie), the FTC expects a clear disclosure people will actually notice. In a video, that means in the clip itself, not just buried in the caption (FTC: Disclosures 101). Use the platform’s paid-promotion setting too where there is one. A clip cut from a sponsored episode can carry the same obligation as the full episode. Our guide to FTC rules for influencer ads, reviews and “Made in USA” claims covers this in more detail.
Rights. Clip only episodes you own or have permission to use, get guests’ agreement to clipping, and leave out copyrighted music you haven’t cleared. Fair use is decided case by case (U.S. Copyright Office). See our guide to turning your podcast into Shorts in the US.
How Clip Studio compares
Clip Studio is our own service, so weigh this section accordingly. Prices are fixed and published on the Clip Studio (US) page:
- Clip Pack, $199 one-off: 10 vertical clips (about $19.90 each) from one video up to 2 hours. Each clip is 20–45 seconds, with word-by-word captions, a hook title and a cover image, plus suggested titles and post captions. A person checks every pick. One round of swaps is included.
- Clip Studio Monthly, $599 a month: 30 clips a month (about $20 each) from up to 4 videos, in your caption style and brand colors. It renews monthly until you cancel, and you can cancel any time before the next billing date.
- Delivery: within 72 hours of receiving your footage, or you get a full refund. On request, we can add an on-screen “Sponsored” or “Ad” label to clips with a sponsor read.
What it doesn’t do: we don’t post for you, manage your accounts or edit the full episode. If you need that, a full-service agency may fit better. If you post only occasionally and have the time, a free tool may be enough. We can’t promise views, followers, downloads or sales.
Quick checklist before you buy
- Compare price per finished, captioned clip
- Check fees, sales tax and auto-renewal terms
- Know who picks the moments and who checks captions
- Confirm revisions, turnaround and file ownership
- Sponsored clips get a clear on-screen disclosure
- You own the episode, and guests agreed to clips
