Rhinehart Studio

Website Accessibility Fix · for US online shops

Make your store easier to use for every shopper

For a fixed $299, we fix up to 15 WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility issues directly in your Shopify or WooCommerce theme: missing alt text, low-contrast text, unlabeled form fields, broken heading order, keyboard focus problems and unnamed links and buttons. Real code changes, no overlay or widget, and a before/after report.

What the $299 covers

  • Automated checks (axe-core) plus manual checks (keyboard-only navigation, focus visibility, zoom to 200%) on your homepage and up to 3 key templates, typically a product page, a collection or category page and the cart
  • Code fixes for up to 15 WCAG 2.1 AA issues we find there, worst first, in these areas:
    • Alt text for product and banner images (written from what is shown; you can edit any of it)
    • Color contrast of text and buttons
    • Labels for form fields: search, newsletter, quantity, variant pickers
    • Heading structure (one H1, levels in order)
    • Keyboard access and visible focus for menus, drawers and buttons
    • Names for icon-only links and buttons (cart, search, menu, social icons)
  • Because these are template fixes, they apply to every page that uses that template, not just one URL
  • A short before/after report: what we changed, where, and what we recommend you look at next
  • Changes are made on a duplicate theme (Shopify) or staged and backed up first (WordPress), so you can review them before they go live

Turnaround: within 5 business days of receiving access (Mon–Fri). If we find more than 15 issues, we fix the 15 most serious and list the rest for you. We won't add extra work without asking you first.

What it does not cover

  • Not a full audit. We check the homepage and up to 3 templates, not every page, PDF or video on your site.
  • Not legal advice and not a certification. We don't issue compliance certificates or statements, and we can't promise that a site is "ADA compliant" or protect you from legal claims. Nobody honestly can.
  • Third-party apps and embeds. Review widgets, chat bubbles, pop-up apps, payment pages and checkout pages run by other companies are outside our control. If an issue sits in one of them, we say so and tell you who to ask.
  • Content beyond the 15 fixes, such as writing alt text for a whole product catalog, captioning videos, or redesigning your theme.

Access we need

  • Shopify: a collaborator request, which you approve from your Shopify admin and can remove at any time. We only ask for Themes (and Products if alt text needs adding). We never need your password or payment settings.
  • WooCommerce / WordPress: a temporary user account with theme-editing rights, which you can delete when we're done. Please make sure you have a recent backup; we take one too before changing anything.

Other platforms: email us first and we'll tell you whether we can help before you pay.

Free automated preview

Not sure it's worth it? Email [email protected] with your store's address. We'll run an automated accessibility scan of your homepage and send you a one-page PDF with the top 5 issues it found, each explained in plain English with an example from your page. It's free, and there's no obligation to buy.

The preview is an automated scan of one page. It is not a full audit. Automated tools catch only some accessibility issues; the paid fix adds manual checks.

Top issues

  1. Text with low color contrast (23 elements). Light text on a similar background is hard to read for people with low vision, and for anyone on a phone in sunlight. Fix: adjust theme colors to meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
  2. Controls nested inside other controls (3 elements). A button inside a link in the main menu confuses screen readers and keyboard users. Fix: restructure the menu markup.
  3. Link with no readable name (1 element). An icon link is announced as just "link", so screen-reader users can't tell where it goes. Fix: add an accessible label.
  4. Navigation regions with duplicate names (2 elements). Screen-reader users hear two menus with the same name. Fix: give each a unique label.
  5. Content outside page landmarks (1 element). A promotional banner sits outside the page's header, main and footer areas, so landmark navigation skips it. Fix: move it inside a landmark.

FAQ

Why no overlay or widget?

Overlay plugins add a toolbar on top of your site but leave the underlying code unchanged, and many disabled users find them unhelpful. We change the theme code itself, so the fixes work with the screen readers and browser settings people already use.

Will this make my site ADA compliant?

We can't promise that, and we'd be wary of anyone who does. The ADA doesn't set a technical standard for websites; WCAG 2.1 AA is the most widely used guideline. We fix real WCAG issues on your most-used pages and tell you what's left. This is not legal advice.

Will the fixes survive a theme update?

Changes to a theme you've customized usually stay. If you switch to a different theme or install a major theme update, some fixes may need to be redone. The report lists every change, so that's straightforward.

Who does the work?
